THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG:
Just after Christmas of 2004, around midnite I
was lying in bed and thought of my dad's sad story of drinking himself to
death about the time I was falling in love the woman who would become my
wife. It hit me that he never got to know her or see his grandkids. A melody
for the first line of the chorus came along with the first words. I jotted
down the idea and recorded the melodic idea. After that, the verses flowed
quickly because it was pretty much biography. Tweaked the words and created
a final melody in Feb 2005.
I
brought her home to meet mom and dad in early May
