Chronicles of Wes

So this page is a compendium of cool happenstances, events, reviews, or whatever that have happened that tickle me. YOU may not be impressed, but at this (early, unrecognized) stage of my song-writing career these items are really fun ... for me. The latest items appear at the top.

Not much going on but travel and work lately...
On April 10, 2005, my song, "How Do You Pray" hit NUMBER ONE on the "HOT 100" of the Country/Traditional song chart on the songwriter site, Songramp.com. NUMBER ONE?!!
On March 12, 2005 my song, "The Way That You Love Me" rose to #7 on the "HOT 100" of the Country/Contemporary song chart on the songwriter site, Songramp.com. I posted a second song on March 15, "Never Met a Bottle" and that one rose immediately to #14. So for a while I had 2 songs "up there."
The website, "Honor the Fallen Foundation" also added my song, "And the Eagle Cries" to their list of, "Links to some wonderful songs written for our troops" in March.
Also on March 3rd  I got an email from the founder of the “Honor the Fallen Foundation” inquiring whether I might be interested in letting my song, “And the Eagle Cries” be used in a compilation CD to be sold in conjunction with a memorial quilt display on tour around the country.

The founder  writes, “We want to make sure that those who come to our display will be able to purchase a music CD of inspiring songs written for the men and women who defend this country. We have spoken with a few music writers who are very excited about this project.”

March 3, 2005 I talked with Gene Simes, founder of Veterans For Veteran Connection and host of the radio show, "VFVC on the air" program. Gene asked me to do an interview on the show and also to consider writing a song about the Purple Heart Award.

February 11, 2005: I received another request from the Vets radio program to use, "And the Eagle Cries.".

Dear Wes,

We are interviewing a mother of two sons who lost their father in Iraq. We wanted to play your song before we had her come on for her interview. I think that you have already given our Research Manager, KL (Kathy) permission for us to play your song, but I just wanted to check again.

Thanks,
Angell Heart, Production Manager
For the entire staff of VFVC On The Air,  www.VFVC.net

January 12, 2005: I got a follow up note explaining the use of the song.

Hi Wes,
I am also going to send that song on to another show that the station has. It is a USO type show and they love to get new music and it MIGHT even include an on air interview. So I hope that is okay with you. I will send them the link to download the song.
If they want to contact you it will be Ladyzb, she produces the United We Roll World Tour and she is using the songs that I found. It is another opportunity to get some air time for these songs. And that is my whole point, to get you great artists* some airtime.
Kathy

(* her words... my emphasis.  So now I'm a great artist!)

January 5, 2005: I received the following email requesting airplay for my song, "And the Eagle Cries."

I would like to ask for a mp3 copy and permission to use this song on an internet radio show for veterans. Veterans for Veteran Connection (www.vfvc.net) is a non profit organization helping veterans and preserving their benefits. If you want more information please email me. I hope to hear from you soon.              Kathy

December, 2004:  Barry Wass, a DJ in Australia, picked up my song, "Hillbilly Christmas" to play on his indie station during the Christmas season. I emailed him asking him to confirm that HBC got at least some airplay and he emailed back that it did and included this comment:

"I am always looking for Christmas songs that are different and I thoroughly enjoyed yours as did several of my listeners. I thought that the lyrics were amusing and original, especially 'cleaning blood stains off the floor' and 'possum stew' !"
